The Basics on Roulette for Beginners

There is something attractive and somewhat magical about the spinning wheel and the sound of the ivory ball clicking around it and then finding its way into one of the numbered pockets. Below are the basics on playing roulette for beginners.
There are two kinds of popular roulette wheels. The most common one in the United States is a double zero wheel, which is called the American wheel. The American roulette wheel has its pockets are numbered from 1 to 36. It also has one zero and a double zero. With that, its house edge is more than 5%.
The other roulette that is commonly known internationally is the single zero wheel, which usually known as the European roulette wheel. The European wheel has pockets that are numbered from 1 to 36, containing only one zero. And its house edge is approximately 2.5%.
In either of the roulette wheels, you can place a wide array of bets in every roulette spin. This provides more payouts.
The following are the most commonly used inside and outside bets from both European and American roulette wheels.
The Straight bet involves guessing on a specific number. Despite having a high payoff, the odds of winning this bet are 35 to 1.
The Split bet requires betting on two numbers, hoping one will win. The odds of winning are 17 to 1.
The Stream or Street bet is betting on three numbers with at least one winning the bet. The odds are 11 to 1.
The Four-number or Square bet entails guessing the winning number out of four. The odds of winning this are 8 to 1.
The Line bet or Five-number bet (only played on an American roulette wheel) is guessing in any of these numbers: 1, 2, 3, 0, and/or 00.
The High Number (between 19 and 36), Low Number (between 1 and 18), Black or Red or Odd or Even outside bets have the same odds of winning: one to one. However, the payoff is 2 to 1, which means if you bet ten dollars you will get your bet and an addition ten dollars.
The Dozen outside bet is guessing one of a specific and consecutive dozen, which is, betting on the numbers 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and /or 25 to 36. The payoff for the bet is 2 to 1.
Lastly, the Column bet has the same payoff as all the other outside bets: 2 to 1. Here, you can bet that a number will fall in one of the columns: the top, bottom or middle.
When you have keenly understood these bets and payouts, try to test your knowledge and play a game of roulette in your nearest casino.
